Festival 200

This year, St Margaret's CE Primary School turned 200 years old.

To kick off a whole year of wonderful celebrations we are hosting Festival 200 on Saturday 19th September. The day will open with breakfast with the Bishop of Warrington.

He will open the event at 10am by blessing the art work produced by Debs Podmore - a local ceramic artist – and the children of the school.

The seven mosaic windows were shaped to mirror the beautiful stained-glass windows of St. Margaret and All Hallows Church, creating a visual connection between the school and the church at the heart of its story.

Together, the windows represent the history of St Margaret’s School, its character and essence, and its special place within the community of Orford. They celebrate not only where the school has come from, but also the people, faith and community that have shaped it over the last two hundred years. In bringing together the past and the present, they create a lasting reminder that our history continues to shape who we are today, while the hands and hearts of the present generation become part of the story for those who come after us.

During the service, a band playing live music will be providing ‘Assembly Bangers’ for the whole congregation to join in with; Chapel Choir will sing for us and other Emmanuel schools will also be joining in. Once the service has ended the Mayor of Warrington will be led out by Warrington Pipe Band, a nod to St Margaret’s Scottish heritage, and will declare the festival open.

Throughout the day, there will be two arenas featuring dancing, music, drama performances and Highland Games activities for the whole family to take part in.

Around the whole school site there will be lots of stalls selling food and handmade goods, games to play, face-painting, a bouncy castle, birds of prey and much more.

We look forward to welcoming the whole community of Orford to this special celebration.
